Some reached out and I looked into them - checked their reviews, talked to people who had used them, sometimes just had a conversation. A few I found myself because someone mentioned them in a post and the name kept coming up.
There is no formal application. What I am looking for is pretty simple: are they responsive, do they actually know what it is like to move here, and would I feel comfortable pointing someone from this group their way? If the answer is yes, they go in. If something changes, they come out.
